Homework

Hi folks,

as I told you, please publish on your blog what you want to do as your homework for Friday. Don't forget that we have agreed to read the first two chapters until then. Chose a while-reading task from the pool of tasks we have created and publish your reaults in a post on your blog! Don't forget to have a look at the others' blogs - I think it will really be worth it and your classmates will enjoy comments on their work.

While-Reading Activities:
  • Hypothesis-building / testing / modifying: I think the story will go on like …
  • Sectionalized reading: try to describe your thoughts and feeling for smaller sections while reading
  • Documenting impressions / feelings while reading
  • Tasks that slow down the reading experience and thereby intensify the importance of what is being read: Transfer ideas of the text into pictures, illustrations, graphic structures, mind maps, time line, screenplay, statue, other text types (diary entry, newspaper article…
  • Analysis of literary devices: What, Where, Why?
  • Write a summary of a chapter
  • Work on your vocab => word webs, create quizzes about words, ...
  • Write a characterization of a main character, e.g. with a “Wanted”-Poster
  • Add music and pictures to the chapters and say why you think they fit to the chapter
  • Act out one scene and film it (Group activity!)
  • ...

  1. I'm kind of sad that things like this weren't even possible as I went to school. Cool stuff!
